I subscribed to PocketGPSWorld database today to replace the speed camera files I was using, as some cameras were missing.

When I try to load the GPX files (consolidated by camera type) I get a message saying the GPX file is corrupt. I have tried different files, and tried 2 different USB drives but it makes no difference.

Anyone seen this before.

I am an IT Pro, so in theory I should know what I am doing.

Thanks

Pete

Unfortunately not all GPX files are the same. The only common denominator is often the Topografix schema.

My CSV Converter uses Topografix but also uses the Garmin schema as my GPX files are aimed at Garmin devices.

I'll guess your vehicle is looking for GPX files to a specific standard.

Do you know that it can take the 1000,s of GPX lines for nationwide speed cameras or whether it's just expecting smaller POI type files ?

The 'old' files that loaded OK took one line for each camera (wpt record) whereas the PocketGPSWorld files take 12 lines for each camera

Maybe this is the problem Sad

Tried downloading Garmin - Other GPX and Other GPX - neither of them work

Not good!

Ah right.

Bit of a faff but as a test ... download the Garmin POIloader CSV fileset.

Then use my CSV Converter (in the Garmin section) because I write out my GPX files as single line wpt, as you require.

Then compare the output.

Ah, now you didn't mention this in your email...

If you send me a copy of the 'old' file you ave then I can add a new format to the download system that will match the 'old' one.

When you mentioned that the old ones worked I assumed you meant older versions of our database. Not some other files you were using.

Hi - files sent.
Appears to be a couple of problems
1) More than around 4,500 in a file fails
2) I think the @ signs confuse it.

The files that worked are a 'simple' one line format.

Thanks

Ok - More news.

I used the excellent HDTune to check the speed of my original USB disk just to check, and it was pretty slow reading - around 15mb/s.

I benchmarked an existing Toshiba TransMemory 32gb USB disk, which came in at 25mb/s. I then transferred the Other GPX format and copied them to the new disk.

Went to the car, tried the biggest (mobile) and got the same message. So tried gatso, and it loaded - same for redlight, specs and pmobile. Then tried mobile again and this time it loaded.

It would appear the Evoque is quite (very) temperamental.

My advice would be to use a fast USB disk and persevere if it doesn't work the first time as it obviously is a combination of file size and read speed.

Was this using the GPX download from here or your modified 'one line' files?

I've not had chance to look yet - school holidays with special needs kids isn't conducive to working on code...!!

This was using the GPX files from PocketGPSWorld. I just downloaded, and added the POI's

As I said, the Evoque does seem very temperamental Smile
