Hi,
On a regular check for updates TomTom home wiped out the core application software and I am in discussion with the helpline to re-install.
I was advised by the first helper to format the device but then TT Home no longer has the navcore module to restore.
The second helper has supplied the download for the navcore application but instructs "on opening the device disk icon delete all files but NOT the folders. This will leave only the folders on the device"
Of course there are no folders on a formatted drive so my question to the forum is can someone look to see what are the default folders I should see.
I will then re-create the folder structure before loading the software.
Many thanks,
Kassi |

Ooops. Folders contain files and they didn't intend for you to delete those.
The bit about formatting is only applicable if you have a backup copy - have you got one (done with Win Explorer, not TomTom Home)? The first helper should not have told you to reformat if you didn't have a backup copy. _________________ Dennis

After the first connection and "update device" TT Home left nothing but corrupted files on the PC and the device.
Luckily I have a manual copy of the map!
This was the advice to follow from the first helpline chat:
https://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1898/locale/en_gb/session/L2F2LzEvdGltZS8xNDE1MzQ4OTY4L3NpZC96YzZYM1A2bQ==
Follow TT home tab.
My situation now is I have a formatted device; my map; a coy of navcore that is correct for the device.
I could just copy that to the root and copy the map also but if the application looks for a folder structure to find files it obviously will not fin things moved randomly to the root directory.
My question is can anyone with an XL take a look and give me a folder map?

Does the map 'Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB' go in the root or in a folder?
If a folder what is it's exact name?
TIA
