Mike has just completed his review of Navman's new product the 3300 Terrain SmartExplorer.
The SmartExplorer package consists of 4 components: the GPS Sleeve; a PC oriented mapping application; a PDA raster mapping program, and a set of 1:1,000,000 scale maps of Europe. This package retails for £280 including tax or €429.99.
This review provides a personal view of the 4 components of the package. The full review can be read here.
Hallo Dave, thanks for your nice review. I have a question about the Navman 3300. It is presented as an outdoor device, but is it really so? You wrote that you were outdoor with the Navman, but would it survive a heavy rainshower? Or do you think the device is only usefull in clear weather conditions. How does the 3300 react on dust and moisture?
Actually Jan it was Mike who wrote the review. One thing you need to bear in mind is that the iPAQ isn't waterproof, you might be lucky to get away with a very light shower, but other than this you need to protect the sleeve and Pocket PC from weather conditions.
I haven't had any problems with the Navman sleeves in terms of dust, but I haven't taken it out in say sand storms. There are various cases you can purchase for these sorts of weather conditions like Aquapac which a small sealed bag, or the Otter Armour cases for rugged waterproof cases.
