Concord, Mass. and Menlo Park, CA – December 15, 2003 – TomTom®, a leading provider of personal navigation systems, today announced brand new, enhanced maps with expanded turn-by-turn coverage from strategic map data provider Tele Atlas. The maps will be provided free-of-charge to all existing TomTom Navigator USA customers.
The Tele Atlas data in TomTom’s latest release includes the most comprehensive turn-by-turn coverage currently available for the United States. This extensive turn-by-turn coverage enables users to navigate more smoothly and successfully to their destinations. In addition, this update includes more image-attributed coverage, making the map display look more natural and offering a more true-to-life experience to the user. Not Really, TomTom have taken a battering recently regarding US based mapping algorithms not being 'normal' and to update algorithms you have to usually update the maps, so this is something that TomTom have been working on, and probably why there's US based maps at present being updated free. |
