Very Happy

Unless I'm mistaken you can no longer change map regions ?

On both devices all I get is the option to upgrade the maps 'on the device'

I wanted to switch the 2599 to UK & I

Yes if there's space you have no option but to accept the full map. You can fool Express though by placing other files there so that there isn't space for the full map, then you get to choose a region Wink

OK, no problem.

I'll stick with the full Europe this time round.

This is now fixed. For those interested Garmin have now split the map into two, one part is placed by Express into the .system folder and the other into a folder named Map if there is sufficient room on the device. If not then the files are split on a sd card, between the Garmin and Map folder.

So if like me you don't want to use a SD card how does it decide which of the 2 maps you get, do you get a choice?

For us the best option is to have the region with the UK on the device.

Also, not that I want to change, my 2597 is now stuck on UK&I because that is the installed map set.

Yes, if you don't want to use a card you get a choice of what you do want to install to the device, just like before.

Unsure what you mean by 'stuck with the UK&I map'. If your 2597 came with a larger map set you can reinstall that if you want to? Or am I misunderstanding your comment? See this FAQ

Full Europe now shows (for me at least on a DriveLuxe 50) as 7.69 Gb rather than the 4.24 Gb it showed on GE yesterday - seems to have been fixed :-)

I updated the 2597 yesterday and it gave me no option to change back to EU maps.

Possibly will do now I'm up to date.

Not fussed though, only need blighty

Yes, you have to be up to date first, then you get the option to change regions ...

Interestingly, having installed to the hard drive on my PC as well, 2017.20 was 6.90 Gb whereas 2017.30 is only 4.87 Gb so I wonder if Garmin haven't quite fixed the issue yet. Even allowing for compression that's quite a file size reduction.

Not sure what you're seeing but the previous map was under 4GB ... the current one just over.

Certainly the map update issue is fixed, I've updated my device and verified everything using JaVaWa's Device Manager and Garmin's BaseCamp.

OK I've got the new maps of All Europe, albeit now in two pieces.

But my new JCV file is half its previous size, so I must be missing, say, all of South Europe's Junction Views.

And my new SID and SQLITE files are also only half their previous sizes, so I've been shortchanged here as well, it seems.

Dales.

You should have 2 jcv files ... One for each map
