The only time you'd need a side view would be on the 2D view "North up", or on "Browse map".
Unfortunately, the custom cursors only work on the "normal" 3D view, (which spins the map around the car), so you never get a side view on corners. |

Use the colour replacement tool in your editing program - or post a link to the picture here and I'll try to remember how to do it for you (or mostdom will do it in about a tenth of the time it'll take me!!).

Or if your car is Blue, get your camera out and take a photo of it

It's all about hue, baby! and thats not a typo.
Using a decent picture editor, use a hue adjuster to change the colour. In paint shop pro it is called 'hue map'.
Or like Darren said, hue can post huour car here, and we'll do it.
