Does anyone know if there is any way of keeping the same map scale no matter what speed you're going? If I zoom to the desired scale, it will stay for a few seconds and then default to its own scale.................bit trivial I know, but also mildly irritating.

Yes, mine does it too Confused ... although I only noticed it happening since upgrading from version 2.3 to 2.5 (same in 2.6). As with you, it's not a major issue, but is becoming more annoying as I did like to keep it on maximum zoom all the time. Not sure if it now automatically switches after a certain time or speed or if it's a bug in this version (I would suspect bug as it makes the zoom option a bit pointless having to keep resetting it every few minutes).

I think I'll ask Garmin Tech Support about it anyway.

Zooming in suits me personally. Bothered me at first, but now I set map detail to the one above medium. It zooms in and out just enough for me now, and I still see the roads that used to dissapear above average speeds.

Anyway, back to the question - not convinced the pressing of the button does lock the zoom actually....

I noticed this also. I used to set it more zoomed in and then forget it when I first got it (v2.1). It rememered the last zoom setting when I switched it off and on again. When I upgraded to later versions it just seems to ignore what you do, keeps it a few seconds then does it's own thing.
