pocketgpsworld.com
Nick Sardelianos, a PocketGPSWorld reader from Greece has recently had the opportunity to put Haicom's latest 305n CF GPS and Bluetooth Slipper to the test.

He has contributed his findings in a detailed review and has been kind enough to allow us to publish them. The review covers in detail the highly adaptable GPS Receiver which can be used in Compact Flash, Bluetooth or Mouse modes of operation and comes complete with pretty much every accessory you could ever require!

It sounds good - many thanks for the review Nick. I am looking forward to the Sirf III equivalent that they are also producing.

Thanks.

I'll soon "patch up" the review with comments on the SSIII version, as soon as they send it to me.

BTW, the Nemerix version is indeed "no so bad" (and certainly to the level and maybe beyond SSII/LP). So if someone can find it cheap, don't let it stop you from buying it. BTW power economy in a mobile environment is indispensable.

Nice review. Thanks.

Is it available to buy anywhere? I'd like to buy one this week, to have in time for my holidays, but I guess I'll have to stick with Globalsat's 338.

there are various resellers in Europe - I am trying to become one (for Greece and Cyprus) - so you probably will be able to find it

Thanks for the quick reply. There's nothing on eBay. I'll google a bit. ;)

I cannot see an online shop but I am sure if you contact them they will help you.

BTW, I think HI-305III is a bit delayed still. End of the month my latest news.

Ok, then. I think I'll wait till they pop up on eBay and get a GS 338 for now. Then I can sell it to someone on my family and get that multi-purpose device. Laughing

Thanks for the info.

I have a HI-303III in my hands.

Boy does this thing have sensitivity...

(trying to figure out the SiRF version though... Haicom said the latest but since I cannot seem to switch the unit to SiRF mode, I cannot verify)

Hi Nick,

Great information, thanks!
Could you please post some details about the software you use on the PDA. On my PocketPC I use Navman SmartST software and maps, but there is no map of Greece available.
Therefore I guess I have to buy a separate software for driving around Greece (just like I did in Russia). Which would you advice?
Ideally an English-speaking online store or Athenes?
Thanks!

Currently the only viable solution for Greek street/trip software is Destinator 3.

You can buy it from www.destinator.gr or maybe even www.destinator1.com.

Soon (September) they'll have the PN version ready (but I have some doubts about PN... I checked it out and found it to be problematic with VGA devices).
