I have been using Copilot5 with the Mitac Mio168 and have never been able to consistently receive POI alerts such as pseed cameras (See my previous poostings).

So far ALK have not produced a solution and from the hisatory in this forum things are not looking to hopeful at present Crying or Very sad . So out of frustration I been investigating possible alternatives and here is a strong possibility: Wink

Travel-I Lite & GPSgate software (Travel-I Lite is a free download & GPSgate I have be uising their 14day Beta trial version. Travel-I warns you of speed camers/redlight cameras and uses the pocketgps database and GPSgate allows you to have two applications accessing the GPS com port at the same time.

I have not had 100% success due to the GPS receiver 'hanging' which I think is due to having the POI alerts enabled at the same time as Travel-I.

My current set-up is to have two virtual ports in GPSgate for Co-pilot & Travel-I to access, both Co-pilot and travel-I setup on two of the Mio's buttons so that I can toggle between displays and to have Co-pilot's POI alerts switched off. The only problem I had using this set-up was on my return journey from Manchester to Leicester where whichever application i wasn't viewing was switching off. A soft reset seems to have solved this and I'll be trying the setup out again on journied to Kent and S Wales over the next few days.

Has anyone else had any experience, good or bad, with this arrangement particularly with using Co-Pilot5??????

Hi,

If you think it would be worthwhile, i can add a Idle timer reset into travel-i which will stop the device from suspending.

Hi AndyT,

Certainly would be useful as there is no point running it in the background if it has fallen asleep when you need it!

Also, is it possible to select a single 'Blip' warning instead of a continous sound?

Regards.
