hi all,
ive just done my first long journey today and had no problems on the outward journey but on the return journey i used the car adapter to power the unit as the battery was low. the unit reset itself three times by turning off/on with the 2 red hands showing on screen for about a minute and then reloading the map and then carrying on for another 30-40 miles or so, and then doing it again. the first 2 times wasnt a problem as there was about 20 miles before the next instruction. the last time it done it was just before my turn off of the m4. luckily i knew where to turn off but if it had been on my outward journey and i missed the turn off i think the next exit from the motorway would have been another 28 miles out of my way.
has anyone else heard of this problem. could it be the ciggarette lighter adapter or the unit itself.
thanks

Could well be the cigarette socket, loose connection.
Another thing it could be, you may need a larger memory card. _________________ Using an A to Z

hi gingernut777,
its the first time ive used the cigarette lighter adapter. it fits tightly into the socket so ill just have to give it another go and see if it does it again.
i have already upgraded to a 512mb viking sd card (re badged toshiba made in japan) i also use a 256mb viking/toshiba in my digital camera but that is made in taiwan) could it be a problem with the card.
thanks

I've had exactly the same problem, but mines not been connected to the 12 volt adaptor. It's happend three times in as many weeks, hopefuly this won't be along term problem! |
