I ordered a Go 12 days before Christmas from Dixons on-line. As I was not allowed to use it until 25th Dec. I decided to find out in advance through this forum about any problems. After studying them I naively assumed that TomTom would have got their act together and I could expect it to have the case with it and to have the current software 4.42 & GB Maps 390 on both the SD card and CD. Guess what?. No case and upon registering on-line I am told to expect it with next eight weeks. It gets worse. I have the latest software on the card but not on the CD. (CD appears to have software that was current in April of this year. It certainly has GB Maps 319) Thus if the card packs up and I have to do a re-install, I end up with an older version of the software. I will be going backwards. I have spoken to Tomtom Support. The lady I spoke to could not comprehend the problem and tried to say that I had old stock. She eventually agreed to “try” and send me another CD but could not guarantee what software version it would have on it.
TheTT Go is a good product but the company seem not to know what they are doing. Are they just incompetent or are they a victim of their own success. It would be interesting to hear what others had in their Christmas package. _________________ Laidlaw Bob |

The Go software can be downloaded from the TomTom support site.
If you have later maps on your SD card than your CD, make a backup copy of your SD card and store it somewhere safe.
The case should hopefully appear - allow a few weeks and contact TomTom if it doesn't.

Thanks for the helpful advice. I just feel that it should not have been needed if TomTom got their act together.. _________________ Laidlaw Bob |

I bought 2 GOs for two of my children - ordered online and both arrived very fast and in time for me to check out and set up POIs etc. Both arrived with most up to date maps, and with cases.
I think Bob was unlucky and did perhaps get some of the original stock which has been lying on a warehouse shelf. I would have thought that by now every single bit of the first batch would have long since been sold - still, if you will buy from Dixons!!!!!
PS - the children (well, young adults really) are very impressed - best present ever! |

I got mine a week or so before Christmas and had 4.42 and maps 390. I haven't checked the CD to see what version is on there, but I didn't get a carry case with mine. I would guess that since mine was from Currys (online) it probably comes from the same warehouse system as Dixons.
Bit annoying about the case, but hopefully I'll get it eventually and not drop it in the mean time!
