I bought what I thought was my NEW Tom Tom Go in July 2004.

Have used it a number of times without any problem. However when I did have a problem necessitating use of the CD I had to contact Tom Tom who have informed me that the unit has been activated at least twice before I bought it and recently by another person. In my case the activation code did not work with the Device Code from the unit and what I believed to be the Product Code, but it wasn't and Tom Tom have told me the unit is incomplete with the correct Product Code.

So it seems some one else has not only got the correct Product Code but also my Tom Tom Go bag.

Obviously I have contacted the seller and await their reply.

I remember a similar case involving a high street retailer who sold a "used" computer as "new". The purchaser found someones personal data files on the hard disk and successfully proved that the unit was not new.

A full refund was due and the retailer ended up in the newspapers over the scandle.

I am always wary of retailers who offer 30 day money back guarantees etc. as I know some put "previously sold" items back on the shelf without checking them first.

I was impressed to see that the TTG had an excellent large seal on the box to show if it had been opened. Was your seal intact ?

I believe you are able to claim a full refund on your TTG under the described circumstaces.

If however you bought from somewhere like ebay then I am affraid you could have problems.... auction sites are often used to sell "B" grade goods that "dealers" have bought as "returned goods" from high street retailers at discounted prices.

Good luck with your claim.
