Has anybody noticed the refresh speed of the GO and Mobile Navigator screen compared to the (now old!)PPC BT version? It is far less jerky and seems to refresh many more times per second, resulting in a far more impressive visual. This is most noticable on roundabout when TT3 takes an age to swivel round, often making it unclear which exit you need to take as it is not on the screen. Is this related to processing power of PPC or is it simply a limitation of bluetooth and the frequency of messages it sends to the PDA?

It can't be related to processing power...
The Go has a 200MHz ARM processor, most current PDA's have a 400 MHz processor.

So the problem wasn't fixed by turning off loads of POIs?

not sure - i can do some comparison - i read somewhere that the bluetooth gps updates every second so i think that explains it -
more evidence is the fact that the speed display is only accurate during cruise control due to the second lag

Maybe its someting to do with the GO's ASR thingy - i.e. The unit has extra hardware inside which enables it to nav with no sats for short peroids. Perhaps when there is sat reception, the ASR also feeds info in helping the unit move the map in smaller incriments. Question Confused

It's actually called ASN, and yes, it seems to improve the map redraw

Keep in mind, though, that redrawing the map is lowest priority for the program. Most important is to get the GPS data (once per second) and then to figure out if you're still on the route. If not it needs to recalculate the route. Only when this is done the maps gets re-rendered.

ASN allows to interpolate in the time between two GPS readings, so instead of 1 FPS (frame per second) you may get more fps depending on the current situation and processing power.

Again, this is only a cosmetic improvement. They should fix the bugs first...
