Huh? There are US versions of the GO on sale. So you should ask TomTom to send you the US memory card and CDs as well, ideally for a reduced price since you do obviously already have the GO. _________________ Lutz

I am saying that it doesn't hurt to ask TomTom about this. Surely they must have thought about buyers that ae crossing the pond from time to time and want to use their GO on both sides. Even TomTom would have to recognize that it is insane to demand of the user to buy another GO. _________________ Lutz

Interestingly enough I did exactly that earlier this week and was told that the US maps werent available for GO. TT are going to release them but there is no date yet. This was for some friends who own a Garmin and have problems getting maps for that.
I did a fair amount of research and came up with this based on the cheapest I could find and the idea that the US Maps would one day be released in the UK:
Buying in UK
Unit £420
European Maps £100
US Maps £100
SD Cards £140
Total £790
Buying in the US and UK:
Unit £350 (Buy in the US)
European Maps £100 (buy this in the UK)
SD cards £140
Total £590
In both cases, you will end up with both European and US maps... Since neither set of maps come on SD cards at the moment (according to TomTom), you have to buy those as well.
Nice to see a £200 difference in price!!! |

Don't spend £140 on SD cards
Dabs gave 1GB SD cards for £60 at the moment :D
assuming they work okay in the Go
(no connection just surprised at the price!) 8O |

er, i think your adding up is wrong, plus your figure includes the US maps.
so unusually enough we dont seem to be getting fleeced like we normally do compared to buying overseas. |

Hi guys, I did actually email tomtom and was told the same.. they are saying soon but cant say when. I did ask what happens if a us person looses their cd, they said theyd send another.. why cant they just sell me that cd.
I guess i could sell and buy a us tomtom go - but with tomtoms attitude, why should i get a tomtom at all? hence the question for alternatives.
PS those dab 1gb cards are out of stock - and we presume they work with the go! |
