Hi
If I subscribe for a month on CamerAlert (for iPhone), can I continue using that old database even when the sub expires?
Thanks |

Yes, you can.
But obviously over time it will get out dated when new roadworks cameras are added and removed and new cameras are installed etc.

And you will get a constant nag about the out of date database when you start CA. And it's a bit of a cheek coming here to ask if you can 'fiddle' our database. |

I was not trying to fiddle
I use the same route every day so cannot justify the annual sub, its only the very occasional journeys few times a year I would use it so dont mind buying the monthly option once in a while or use the dated DB. |

Is it off topic to ask? - I had thought perhaps a monthly subscription option was to let people spread the cost, rather than dip in and out when they are doing a holiday. Seems to me that buying a one month sub once a year is hardly supporting the crowd based database principal. _________________ Dennis

I would have thought its beneficial to get some revenue rather then nothing from someone who would have not purchased a annual sub otherwise.
Not sure what "crowd based database principal" means, we are paying for something when we need it.
Spreading the cost, as car owners I doubt people are going for monthly option as £19 is too much to spend in one go for a years sub. |

By "Crowd based" I'm referring to the fact that the database has been built, and is maintained, from members' reports of cameras. Just my opinion that it's not contributing to that ethic. _________________ Dennis

The monthly sub for iPhone users is just that - a monthly sub. Whether they renew that monthly sub every month or use it as a one-off is up to the end user.
If we didn't want it then we wouldn't have added the option.
