That seems strange as TA is Traffic Antenna? _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Reasonable assumption I suppose. But it seems that G have 2 TA20s, one of which does traffic and the other doesn't. I'm pretty certain that the one that I have is genuine Garmin. Guess I'll be phoning Garmin and the vendor tomorrow.

The other posts I've found all mention that it is impossible to buy a working traffic antenna version as an accessory. The only place they seem to appear is in the box with the head unit.
Why as they are useless without the unit?
Could it be that the licensing of the traffic purchased with the unit is only for one car/unit and selling a second working cable is against the t&c's

Garmin have confirmed this:
Garmin makes new accessories, and this is a redesign cable with just a new look. It does still provide all the same functionality.
The cables were just released at different times and with different models. It is a redesign.
Both cables work and serve as an antenna for the device as you already know.
I'm going to raise with them the other issue about some TA cables not receiving traffic, but I'd be surprised if that really is the case. It's possible there is a 'bad batch' I suppose
@Kremmen
I don't think there's any traffic t&c's that would require Garmin not to supply replacement cables that work with traffic, since the subscription is linked to the unit itself, the cable is simply an antenna.
My TA20 shows the same as yours except serial number is different. I suspect the one M8TJT has is a counterfeit _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

That one shows as compatible for the digital traffic models so I suspect it'll be the TA20, which will of course power any Garmin as well. Interestingly though it has a ferrite filter which my TA20 (and Kremmens) doesn't have, although M8TJT's does
If it simply is though a power cable it would explain why M8TJT isn't getting traffic _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Totally different model number and if you look at other pnd models they are all compatible.
I reckon that cable is purely power.
I wonder if the 3598 accessory page shows the same model. That would be the clincher as we know that requires a power cable with an aerial socket.
3598, yep, same lead and just listed as a power cable. _________________ Satnav:

Right then. Spoke to Garmin earlier and after some talking about it, with the guy not inspiring me with confidence, he eventually came up with the fact that the TA10 is discontinued and claims that the replacement is this. Although the compatibility list lists the 2569LMT-D, my suspicion is that it will be a power cable only. The same part number is shown on Amazon here and the questions say that it's not compatible with traffic on the 2598 LMTD so I'm not holding my breath.
Garmin seem unsure of what works with what. But the one on Amazon has a ferrite thingy on it as well. I have asked them again by email if it's compatible with Traffic and await the reply.
How hard can it be? |

So even Garmin support haven't a clue.
Not surprised. I had an issue ages ago with 2 sets of maps and the guy on support was trying to get me to remove one set via the PC. I know now that the problem was MTP but at no stage did he twig that I couldn't see the map files due to it and reckoned my PC was at fault.
I'm beginning to think that they operate in a similar manner to the notorious India call centres where if the answer isn't on a cue card they are lost.
It must cost them thousands extra in unnecessary returned and exchanged units. _________________ Satnav:

Interesting reply from garmin support re. Traffic. Quote: | The digital traffic devices only require a standard cable to receive traffic. If there is anything else you need, please do not hesitate to let me know and I will be happy to assist you. | . Bought one from them at extortionate price so will be interested in the outcome. I'll report back. |

I think that's simply because they've now standardised on the TA20 as the only power cable. Certainly my older cable for my 1310 does not work with my 2508. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |
