I had a look today at Basecamp and it seemed overly complicated for checking a route, plus I have to have my satnav plugged into the laptop for it to work.
I also had a look at Garmin Routes, but couldn't find any option to avoid toll roads. I probably wasn't putting enough information into the search as when I wanted to modify, I was told to add another location. Bit difficult really if I am looking for somewhere I haven't been before!!

When you update your maps there is an option to download them to your PC for BaseCamp to use, should you wish to. While it may seem complicated at first it really is simple to use. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way.

So, i'm now just shy of 7000 miles navigating with my new unit and I have to say, I am very happy with it. I was a little concerned about the units, having read all the horror stories about them, possible ingrained from years ago. As a ex TT user, I didn't find the options so easy to find, and I still struggle with avoiding a part of a route totally, it always wants to go back to the old route after missing the avoided part, instead of re- routing. However, the screen is very clear and I do like the way the notifications pop in and out.
All in all, top marks and a converted user
