That doesn't sound right.
You should just get the latest map, as you say, plus any firmware and miscellaneous updates.
When you plug it into a PC though it does go into a different mode so you can upload POI's, updates etc. _________________ Satnav:

It's all done now
Just trying to work out how to load my POI's now. I have converted them from ov2 to csv and they have been uploaded by POI Loader. I now have a folder in custom POI's called Aetna, which is what I was hoping for. I am assuming the bmp file would have gone there too, as I can't see any evidence of that happening. Also trying to work out how to get them to display on the map.
Biig learning curve for me, especially if I am to use it tomorrow, once it gets a satellite fix!!

The end result of a POILoader session is a single .Gpi file.
What you need to do is put the .bmp file in the same windows folder as the .csv file and POILoader will do the rest.
The filenames must match though:
[filename].csv
[filename].bmp
and if cameras then:
[filename].wav
There are quite a few tutorials here. _________________ Satnav:

It should have placed a shortcut in the start menu all programs list. (Win7).
If it isn't there look in the uninstall list and see of it's there. If it is then that should show the exe name and where it is.
If you still have issues post back and I'll check my PC in the morning. _________________ Satnav:

I couldn't find the programme and there was no icon on my desktop. My Firewall (Comodo) wanted to limit it as it wasn't digitally signed, is that likely to be a problem?

Ah the old digital signature. If Verisign think I'm paying thousands of pounds for a recognised digital signature just for some AV vendors. It is digitally signed as it was compiled under Visual Studio 2013.
It installed without issue for me under the latest Norton Security and I've not had any other adverse reports. _________________ Satnav:

I have covered my first 300 miles with the unit today and so far, so good I do have some niggles that I need to try and sort out though.
1) I can't find an option to undisplay the blue icons with roadside services, restaurants and petrol stations. I like to have a blank map except for my chosen items. I have seen the aforementioned categories, but the ticks are greyed out so I cannot untick them Coincidentally, I was travelling Southbound on the M6 today and saw an icon for Burger King, don't even have a BK category and it wasn't there going Northbound this morning
2) I would like to use the Bluetooth facility for handsfree and other services. Problem is, as soon as I load my phone the traffic changes from Inrix to smartphone traffic which I don't want. Again, I am unable to switch between traffic providers except by turning bluetooth off.
3) On my old TT, I was able to display current time, arrival time and miles to destination on the task bar. It is a bit unfortunate that only one at a time can be shown on the Garmin, even a scrolling option would be better.
4) I have turned the Garmin speed alerts off, but whilst I no longer get the beep beep, the ticker bar at the top of the screen still shows when entering a zoned mph area. Where is this information coming from, the traffic?
5) I had to re- record the ding dong- Gatso, etc files from my TT and transfer them to MP3. I have named the files exactly as the gpx file, but I am getting no sounds. I have turned custom POI notifications too. I also notice that in the ticker bar that the pgpsw cameras are called by their long/ lat numbers in the bar, the Garmin files don't seem to be as accurate as they were on the TT for some reason?
6) I was able to add a My Favourites today at a new business premises. I can't find a way to add it to my custoom POI file instead. Looks like it may be a case of collect them during the week and manually add them to the file and upload. Bit disappointing
As I say, all in all it is pretty refreshing and I have enjoyed using it today. Will enjoy it even more if I can sort out what i've done wrong

3) tap the 3bar icon bottom right and select trip data. If trip data isn't showing then select it in Settings, Map & Vehicle, Map Layers
Tap the 4 data fields on the right and change them to what you want
4) It's coming from the map data
6) You can't add it to your Custom POI files, favourites are stored as favourites with their own categories. Once stored you select them by doing a Where to, Favourites. You can assign categories to favourites which will then be displayed (after you've entered 12 or more favourites). Easier than dealing with custom POIs and categories there. Note you can personalise the home screen and add shortcuts, just click on the Personalise icon. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way.

Don't use either of these so can't help
1) Settings, Map & Vehicle, Map layers ... untick 'places along road' _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

#1- sorted thank you
#3- sorted thank you
#4- What I thought, thanks for the confirmation
#6- Hmmm, will have to see what happens when I have 12 of them. At the moment I am trying to decipher the co- ordinates that are presented in the saved file to manually add to the csv file. It keeps bringing me up 300 yards away
Have also downloaded sox, read the install instructions and uploaded the wav files. PGPSW sounds still not working though _________________ Garmin Drivesmart 51 LMT-D Europe |

Just read this post from MaFt(on this thread bit.ly/1KRA9R9) , and not really sure I understand it.
Quote: | The Garmin alerts are either all on or all off. For files without proximity data (any @30, @40 @XX) in the individual entries then you will not get any alert whether or not you have the proximity alerts turned on for custom pois. |
I have the consolidated cameras, so does that mean mine won't work and I need to have the zoned? _________________ Garmin Drivesmart 51 LMT-D Europe |

6) I'm not sure why you're bothering, maybe a hang up from using a TomTom? If you assign categories to your favourite places they'll automatically be added into that 'category folder' in favourites.
Note too you can have favourites in more than one category. So an address for example could be in a category named Restaurants and a category named Sussex (and others if you want). So you could either search through Sussex or Restaurants to find it. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Because I can't seem to find a way to create a new category to put them in and move over my already bulging POI folder. I don't want to be putting work places in the restaurant category (or am I reading it wrong?) I am also hoping to keep providing my colleagues with files to put on their units (something I can/ could do with the TT users), but seemingly not with Garmin. _________________ Garmin Drivesmart 51 LMT-D Europe |
