I do have a separate overspeed.wav Now I know DropBox worked I'll post a link tomorrow.
On my 14 seconds it does give time for 2 further warnings if your only about 5 - 10 mph over with the second one just as you pass the camera.
I have Single Tone set.
I think though, with the @ the overspeed warnings are almost continuous until you pass the camera. With 30 seconds that's going to produce quite a few, double my 14 seconds.
From today I'm off till Xmas eve so I won't be able to test properly. I'm going to try the lower speed as per the suggestion and try GPS simulation. That will be Monday though, at the earliest. _________________ DashCam:

I've tried your latest version and made my own overspeed.mp3 file. I used the separate overspeed.gpx setting.
I can now distinguish between Approach warnings and OverSpeed warnings and the results are interesting.
1. With Overspeed set to 1sec I get 2 Approach warnings (yes 2) and 1 OverSpeed warning as I'm going past the camera.
2. With OverSpeed set to 0 (you don't write out @ lines to the GPX file of course) and I get 2 or 3 Approach warnings on a 25sec Approach to a 60MPH mobile camera and no overspeed warning.
3. When under speed I don't get an OverSpeed warning - yah!
So it looks like my complaints of multiple OverSpeed warnings are not founded, that the multiple warnings are in fact Approach warnings!
Why is my Garmin giving out multiple Approach warnings? Answers on a postcard...
I have my Settings/Proximity Points/Alerts/Audio: set to Single Tone, so it isn't that.
I don't have (although it looks like it) multiple camera files. I deleted the Garmin ones years ago. There is only one POI file on the device which contains my POIs and cameras.
I can live with 1. above as I've set my overspeed warning very short.
I'll test it on the A9 and motorways at the weekend and see if there is a real-world improvement. _________________ Mark B

That is indeed strange.
As I said, I ran with just my Gatso 50 file with only # in there and I only got one approach warning even though I was over the limit.
How far over the speed are you testing at ?
I was only 5 mph _________________ DashCam:

Sometimes 5mph over sometimes 10-15mph.
The multiple warnings has always been there and I've always assumed that it was the repeated OverSpeed warnings. Now I know that at least 2 or 3 are Approach warnings.
Why would it be doing that?
Your camera was 50mph, my test camera was 60mph.
At the weekend I'll get the chance to test further and with 70mph cameras as well. Maybe the camera makes a difference? _________________ Mark B

Why don't you edit the speed of your local 'test' camera, instead of driving around looking for different cams at differing speeds? |

Because I'm going down to Edinburgh anyway and because I can't always get up to speed on local roads stuck behind lorries and tractors! _________________ Mark B

Well after my tests down the A9, M90 etc. I am disappointed to say that I get 2 or 3 Approach warnings on a 60MPH camera and 3-4 Approach warnings on 70MPH cameras.
Each gives 1 OverSpeed warning 1 sec before the camera.
I have 30sec Approach time and 1 sec OverSpeed time.
Separate OverSpeed file and mp3 file.
Must be the device, I'm at a lost. There's nothing to be done to solve this as far as I can see. _________________ Mark B

I think if you are over the limit then the Garmin will continue to give continual warnings to try and get you to slow down.
Stick with your 30 second approach but reduce your overspeed down to my 6 secs for a test. At that distance I've only ever had 2 warnings as there isn't time for any more before your past the camera. _________________ DashCam:

I thought that's what the OverSpeed warning was for?

With respect I don't think you've read what I've said.
OverSpeed is already at 1 sec to reduce warnings. That part is working - it's the Approach warning that's the nuisance now _________________ Mark B

You've missed the point of the whole discussion.
I'm trying to reduce warnings to a minimum. On mobile cameras which are only present <1% of the time but are on every bridge on the M6 for instance I don't want the usual cacophony of warnings when I can clearly see the camera isn't there! _________________ Mark B

What I don't get is why you're getting them and I'm not ?
If I'm under the limit I just get a single warning of the camera ahead. If I'm overdoing it then I get a single approach warning at 14 secs and then from 6 secs I get a continual series of warnings until I have passed the camera.
This has been the same on all 3 of my Garmins.
I've forgotten whether you confirmed that via POILoader does it give the same number of cameras loaded as the Converter 'Total GPI Cameras' ?
Weird !
I suppose what you could do is forget the converter and use POILoader to install the base CSV set as supplied and see what sort of warnings you get from those. I know under Garmin's rules the approach warning will be 36 secs but that's not too far adrift from your preference. That way, if you get loads of warnings again then there has to be a duplicate set on there somewhere. _________________ DashCam:

Proper test yesterday, I was able to do 60 past my opposite facing 50mph camera and all I got was one approach warning and 1 overspeed, then I was past it. _________________ DashCam:
