The rider also has a new powered mount as standard with 7 pins to replace the old 4 pin one. It is supposed to increase the stability ? |
Where can I read about the new mount or do you have inside info please? I'm interested in the new model but can't see anything on TomTom site about the new mount. |

The new TomTom RIDER has a 4GB internal memory so can comfortably fit the Europe map, in fact the EMEA model will come with a full Europe map already installed. A US model available in the near future will have the US and Canada map installed.
The new device also has a new charging bike mount, it may look similar in design but is different in that the pin configuration now has 7 connection points rather than 4 for increased stability. The new TomTom RIDER will also be provided with the new charging bike mount in the box as standard along with a battery cable and RAM mounting kit.
This all the info from :

Hi
Information was leaked on a German site about 2 weeks ago but snippets of information are all over the net now.
Interesting picture from OneLover. Not see one with the carbon effect or was that just an artifact of compression. Also you show a car mount in the picture with 4 pins. According to Tomtom the car mount is not yet available but it will be in a few weeks.
It is a step up from the Urban and Pro but most of the features can be available on the rider 1 & 2 with the right software tweaks. And to me the big advantage of the older units is the SD card so you can change maps without having to use a computer.
I bought the rider 2 when if first came out, and a rider urban for my son we he got a motorcycle. I liked the interface on the Urban better but 2 GB of ram was not enough to hold the whole of Western Europe, so I did not buy one myself but found a tweaked version of the software on the web which gave me the features of the Urban that I wanted. This still works with tomtom home so I can update my maps are new updates are released. |
