There appears to be a new mac version, as it is a different size to the previous one - I think. I don't have a Mac, so I can't verify it

Both new versions are smaller; the Mac version by quite a bit.

| Something I've just noticed (unless I'm wrong) is that it insists on you registering/logging in even to get mapshare updates so I've reverted back to previous version 2.9.2.2837 |

I see no difference.
HOME has always logged in for me, when I connect the Device, otherwise it wouldn't know what it needs to do an Update on.

That's fine if you DO have your device registered (& tick the always log me in) but if you have non-registered devices where you just need mapshare etc then this can't now be done |

That is correct. That is one of the changes. Another one is the handling of interrupted downloads of large files, like a map. The new Home version will deal with the process more efficiently...
