|
|
Having changed the car I had to revert from the hard wired kit to the sucker style Active Dock Mount for my 550, which promptly broke where the ball attaches to the arm. I've had it 2 years so TomTom were pretty unsympathetic and the fact that I'd never used it didn't cut any ice either. Has anyone ever had to replace the ball on the x50 mount as I don't really fancy spending £30 on a new one? |

The mount comes apart fairly easily but what would you use to replace the broken ball? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Good question, I was wondering if there's a compatible ball on a none active mount that I can swap over - I've got lots of TomTom gubbins but no spare balls |

Brodit do one but that would need a Brodit ProClip to mount it on. Other option might be a second hand mount on eBay? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Cheers, I was using a Brodit mount / Mini Move Clips till I changed the car and now I can't find anywhere big or flat enough for a Move Clip so it's back to the windscreen - I'll check out eBay for inspiration |

Any mount from the x20, x30, x40, x50, 1000, iPhone Car Kit, One Third Edition, One XL, XL IQ use the same diameter ball so you could get a mount from any of these units and transplant the parts across to recover you boken ball.
If you need instructions on how to take the mounts to bits give us a shout as I have written up a number of guides on doing this over the past few years - Mike |

Better still send me a PM with your address on it as I have a spare x40/ x50 windscreen sucker and ball in my spares box (I only tend to use Brodit these days) then I can pop it in the post to you - Mike |

Cheers Mike.
If they'd built the bridge over the Ribble that was proposed many years ago we'd almost be neighbours |
