I have been with O2 for years as well, although I originally signed up through BT Genie after being totally cheesed off by Vodaphone...
I am glad to hear the Barclay specialist O2 team seems to work...I say that with a smile as I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't such a team. It is just a marketing tactic...But at least it is one that works...
Mike did have a very valid point which he raised here, point being communication. It is not that difficult to follow up on your promises and targets especially as they set them themselves. Creditworthyness, DPA and sorts aside, there is no excuse for that kind of breakdown.
Unfortunately too many times customer service or just common sense doesn't seem to be present anymore with companies. In some operating models it seems to make sense that compensation is cheaper than getting it right in the first instance. It just highlights that a lot of the internet ordering system are not right yet. There are excuses for it as O2 has been formed from a variety of 'smaller' companies each with their own system and the processes and systems are now a patchwork to bring together...
But the point is...the customer should not be exposed to this and there is no excuse for it....

Same sort of problem with customer service with 02 here..
I have been running an XDA since early last year, decided I wanted to upgrade to an XDA II, and filled in the online form... Waited 6 weeks, filled in another online form, also stating that I wanted to up my number of minutes and GPRS time.. waited another 2 weeks and emailed them personally... Waited again another 2 weeks (yes I did try the telephone, and objected to being on hold for 45 minutes).
Gave up, ordered a Free 3 phone for my extra minutes and keeping the old XDA... I am now downgrading my account on 02 to the minimum!!
So they have lost an upgrade and a very heavy user.
Why???

Well the PocketGPSWorld.com now own and have been using the XDA2s for a while now. I had to order them through another company I own, but the process was finally smoothed along by a senior customer services representative.
If you would like to see the XDA in action why not come along to our next Pub Meet and have a chance to win some free GPS gear click here for details. _________________ Mike Barrett
