On my 720 I have Kate's computer voice, I tried to get it through Home for the 750, but its not offered. Is there a way of copying from the 720 to the 750? What files need to come over? _________________ GO 750 LIVE v9.430 - v8.753612 EU map

If you set up to use the same Home, but with different email/passwords for each device, then you can share the files that are mutually compatible between the devices, including the computer voices. _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

Thanks for you input - I did that to start with, but the file was not offered. I have worked it out now. Just copy the files with Kate in the name to there respective folders on the 750. Seems to work OK. _________________ GO 750 LIVE v9.430 - v8.753612 EU map

On my relative's 750 Kate was the standard installed computer voice out of the box to the best of my memory.
However because I find that she is both extremely loud and bossy I later fired Kate for guiding me and replaced with her Simon (who is supposed to be English but sounds more like a softly spoken New Zealander to my ears) on both my relative's 750 and my own 940. This is because I found I did like having street names and road numbers read aloud and also the "follow bxxx for so many miles messages" (whichever option that is under) but not when there were read by bossy and middle aged Kate (saying all this as a middle aged bloke) but not with Kate reading them. Simon is also better with foreign pronunciation like Spanish street names.
I used to like Vicki who I downloaded for free via TomTom Home (younger and nicely spoken especially the way she says "join the motorway") but unfortunately her voice was not computerised so she could not read street names etc. That was why I had to go back to Kate but found I didn't like stern and bossy Kate.
On my relative's 750 we had to completely remove Kate (rather than just deselect her) in order to make room for Simon due to the well known 750 series issue with lack of adequate on board memory (the version of the maps my relative has from December 2009 does just fit the full European map on to the device after deleting various extraneous files that TomTom claims are not needed). |
