On Tuesday 8th June 2010, my Gmail account for my TomTom 950 Live received an email from TomTom stating that as part of my Map Update Service, my new map is ready for collection.
On Wednesday 9th June 2010, the same Gmail account received an email from TomTom stating that the above email was incorrect.
Apparently the new map will be ready by the end of June 2010 and that it will be richer in detail, containing more landscape details, Points of Interest and richer graphics, as well as improved road coverage. This means you will have even greater freedom to move and to enjoy your journey.

See the 8 page topic about v850 maps HERE, Robert.
Most of the latter half consists of reports about about this ridiculous set of emails and apologies. |

Actually, it's worse than that for me on my 6 week old GO 950 Live. I have had great difficulty in getting a "2 year Map Update Service" card to activate. In the end Tomtom support had to manually apply it to my account. No idea if they have done it right though as this happens.
When I now enter "Update my GO" I am being presented with the option to apply a map update of "Western & Central Europe" version 830.2305. As I already have "Europe" version 845.2702 on the device as supplied by the "Latest Map Guarantee" function soon after I first connected it to HOME, I have rejected the option.
Go figure...

That sounds very much as though you have changed your ESISTING email account name onto the new TomTom device.
That's never a good idea, for this very reason!
We always recommend you use a NEW account name (it doesn't have to be a REAL email address) for every new device. |

Whoops, my bad! I apologise. I have also spent my allotted time in the dunce's corner. _________________ Robert.

This was a brand new device with a brand new account as I was aware that using existing accounts was a Bad Thing (tm). Tomtom support claim it's probably just a "system issue". When everyone elkse is busy downloading 850 maps and I am still being offered 830, I will start to really shout :-)
