|
|
Hi guys,
I have Nav N Go IGO8 v8.0.0.5400 software on my PNA unit.
I've down-loaded the Pocket World speed camera database (txt format) and some POI's in the correct kml format. I can't seem to get either to work.
Have followed instuctions from the forum, creating the necessary directories but with no luck.
Could anyone tell me the definative way to install Speed cams and POI's onto the SD card.
Also...does anyone know what skins would work with this version of IGO8.
Many thanks |

Hi and welcome.
The definitive version of the instructions are found on this page I'm not sure which instructions apply to your setup.
It might help to explain where things go wrong and what does / doesn't happen? |

Download again using the Single File version.
Unzip the folder.
Delete all the files in the iGO8/content/speedcam folder.
Copy the pocketgps_uk_sc and pocketgps_uk_pmobile files to iGO8/content/speedcam folder.
(When you next start iGO there will be a delay while the speedcam.spdp and SpeedcamUpdates.spud files are created in iGO8/content/speedcam folder. In future you only have to add the pgpsw files mentioned above and the .spdp and .spud files will be updated)
In iGO8/content folder you should have a userdata folder which has a poi folder inside. If you haven't, create a folder, name it userdata, open the folder and inside create a folder and name it poi. It's inside THIS POI folder the .kml files have to go. When you restart iGO two new files will be created in the folder .kix and .kns.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now start iGO and go outside to get a lock when you should be able to see speedcams on screen and in Settings.
But before this you could add Linknet's Ultra Skin 5 to your Skin Folder, probably won't find it now but if you PM me your e-mail address I can mail it to you. (From past experience I know Linknet won't mind as he's moved on through 8.3 and Amigo 'skinning').
When sending the file I'll add necessary instructions. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

I don't mind at all but it's still available for download here:

I'd like thank you all for helping me with this problem.
I now have the Speedcams from PGPSW working, and the POI's.
Your help is really appreciated
I've down-loaded the V5 skin ready to install but don't have a skin folder on the IGO SD card. Do I just create one in the Custom folder? |

Just to add, bob944, don't make the same mistake as I did originally, I named the folder skins instead of skin and, of course, it didn't work. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

Thanks for info on the Skin location.
Copied the V5 skin contents to a new folder called skin in the Custom folder. Sadly I'm not able to see the new skin as the "skin" option on the Igo settings menu is still grey'd out. |

You have to put the Unzipped file into the skin folder.
Quote: | in the Custom folder |
skin folder goes in Contents folder. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

Hi Lost_Property, It was the unzipped contents which I copied into the Contents folder into a sub-folder called "skin". I should have explained myself better.
Do I need to edit the sys.txt file possibly? I can see it specifies the default skin which is skin="ui_igo8" maybe I'm clutching at straws here. as I suspect you can select an alternative skin from the settings menu.
Many thaks for your help. |

Let's start from scratch bob.
Linknet's Ultra Skin 5 .zip file has to go 'UNZIPPED' into iGO8/Content/skin folder.
The Audio .zip file has to be UNZIPPED and the unzipped folder goes in iGO8 folder.
Start iGO8 and go to Settings, go to next page and select Menu, tap on Skin, you should now see iGO 8 Ultra Skin 5.0. Tap on it to select.
Now go back to Settings/Warnings and tap on Speed Camera Warning, which ticks it and ghosted Speed Camera Settings become unghosted. Tap on this and choose Off/Advanced/While Approaching/Only When Speeding.
I use Advanced which allows me to use the Voice Alerts. Choose Advance Alert Distance. Go to next page to set Alert Volume and tap on the icons to test voice.
I've found it's best to use e.g a Male Alert Voice if you are using Female navigation instructions and vice versa. It sorta wakes you up. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

I had said previously
Quote: | Now start iGO and go outside to get a lock when you should be able to see speedcams on screen and in Settings.
But before this you could add Linknet's Ultra Skin 5 to your Skin Folder, |
I suppose I should have added a reminder, at least now if bob does have problems not seeing camera options, he'll know why. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property
