I was a member of the AA for about 20 years. When I first joined the AA you got you loads of goodies (car badge, atlas, year book, regular magazines) there where also a lot of AA shops where you could get useful stuff. Nowadays you hardly get anything, yet the subscription goes up annually.
The AA once complained in their magazine that people who call them out a lot should be charged extra, which I agree with, but when the AA didn’t go on to say that those people who don’t call out the AA should have a reduced subscription (which is only fair) then I lost interest!!
I got to a stage where I was paying around £100 to cover me to drive any vehicle with all options except home start. I spoke to my vehicle insurance company and they now cover the vehicle with all options (home start, roadside, relay, etc) for just £36 per year. If I need to call out I just ring the insurance number and quote the insurance policy (both kept on a small card behind my tax disc) and the insurance company arranges the organisation (currently the RAC but I guess this can change) to do its job.

Quite right too. As Land Rovers (with side glass) are “only” cars”
Why don’t you paint some windows onto the side of your panel van Dennis?

That's amazing Privateer (by my reckoning). Could you possibly let me have a list (to not show favouritism) of insurance companies to check for a good deal please? The list can be anything from 1 upwards of course (to make life easier)
A pint of beer in your neck of the woods could be made available for a positive response. _________________ David
