|
I have recently brought a TT 540 and have installed all the new updates but still getting inconsistant speed camera locations.
I know it's never going to be perfect but I have a TT classic with gpsworld camera locations (not been updated in a loooooong time) but is still more reliable than the new updated database from tomtom home.
Basically, Is it worth the expence in buying the database from Gps world or am i going to get the same as i've already got.
Many thanks in advance |

The PGPSW database is updated every Wednesday. You don't say how old the version you have is, but for example, the last update on the 4th Feb, "sees 83 static and mobile speed cameras added/removed/modified across the various speed camera databases."
When you get that kind of update EVERY WEEK, you will see that the subscription is well worth the money! _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

thanks falkirk81, The tt go classic as not been updated in at least 18 months or longer but it seemed more acurate in it's camera positions for exaple this morning I was dropping one of my kids off at school and my new tt 540 failed to pick up a known mobile site until I was way past it and be then it's changed from a 30mph zone into a 20. |

Is that in respect of the Tomtom cameras or the PGPSW cameras? The Tomtom ones are well known to be way behind, in terms of accuracy, the ones from this site.
Have you an example, preferably with co-ordinates, for me to check on the location you mention? _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

I think you've answered your own question. It's Only £16.99 for one year, 40+ updates in that year and all the latest locations AND mobile sites.
Or take a chance with TT but you'd better be vigilant if you do! I assume the copy of our database you do have came with the device? _________________ Darren Griffin |

just checked on the camera submit page that the mobile camera is not listed on that stretch of road but it's been there for a long time, recently saw a camer there only last month.
Darren....the database on my T go classic was installed when the updates where free (i take it that's longer than I remember)
I'm more than happy to buy the upgraded DB but was just wanting to know if it's worth the upgrade seeing as i've just lumped out on a new tt540 that I thought i was going to get the latest db.
Looks like I should have not fell for the tomtom claims that this is all I need to keep upto date. (the term "sucker" comesto mind)
Will buy the gpsworld db after i've wiped the egg off my face. |

Where is this camera? If it's not there and you were to submit as s subscriber then you could be eligible for the lifetime subscription. But you have to be a subscriber first.
Post the address here and I can see if we know of it? _________________ Darren Griffin |

well it's been there a very long time as i've said, surprised it's not on your DB.
Ah! If i can get a freebie from you then COOL.
Can't be 100% exact on the actual position but within a few yards I would guess.
Centre Latitude: 52.966107772845184 Longitude: -1.2047946453094482
Hope this helps |

Is this a mobile or fixed camera? I believe from your posts earlier that it was a mobile unit.
Either way, you should submit its location regardless. If its not been submitted before and gets successfully verified, then you may get free lifetime subscription depending on whether its a fixed or mobile. _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

mobile sites are purged from the database after a perioid of apparent inactivity. if we receive a 'seen again' report for a site in use then it will stay in teh database for another year, if not then after a year it is 'removed' - it only takes one seen again report to put it back in.
