Yaris TomTom Replacement?

Not sure if this is in the correct section of the forum.

I have just been called by my Toyota garage to advise me that Toyota have issued a recall on the TomTom AVN units fitting in the Yaris SR due to the number of crashes.
Have been told the fix only takes 10-15 minutes.
I do wonder what they are fixing and if I risk loosing my Map Update subscription, or should TomTom honour this and transfer the map updates over as I suspect they are replacing the dodgy memory cards in the units.

Anyone have any experiance of getting TomTom to switch Map Updates to a replacement unit?
