I am very close to buying a Satmap, but I have a few questions that can only probably be answered by someone who uses one.
Firstly, I no longer have the best of eyesight (age is a bu**er) and would like to know what the maximum "zoom in" offers in 1:50k and 1:25k - eg, how large is a 1k square on the screen at max zoom in both scales (I am hoping I can leave my reading glasses at home!)
Secondly, is it easy to mark and annotate points along the route - for example the location of something interesting, or a point you wish to return to later?
Thirdly, can I easily import waypoints from my old Garmin GPS12XL (I store them in Gartrip)?
Thanks in advance

On 1:25k I could get 5mm on map to fill width - 50 mm (stopped at that point, though zooms beyond)

similarly on 1:50k 1km square can be zoomed into fill screen and beyond

sorry - not sure about the others as rarely use such marking - but believe you should be able to import via PC

Thanks for taking the trouble to reply.
That sounds excellent. I can leave the reading glasses in the car.
Thanks again.

IMHO, just be aware...if you're up in the hills in bad weather, it is not the easist device to really see where you exactly are...sometimes...wind, rain and foul weather can make it difficult at times...just take a map with you as well. I've just come back from two bad weeks in the Lakes...with the screen covered in rain you need to concentrate etc.etc. Probably no different to any other device.
