When using Tom Tom Traffic. You have your connection through your phone via Bluetooth.
You get your traffic report. The G is still on my phone saying that i still have a GPRS connection.
My question is, whilst the G is still showing, am i being charged all the time or is it only when i hit the update button on traffic that i get charged for whatever i download ??
Thanks

Hi Paul,
GPRS is an “always on” service. In the UK you should only be charged for the data that’s transferred, i.e. when you hit the update button.
My next mobile phone bill will be checked very carefully when it arrives! ;)

Thats what i thought. You can actually check how much data has been downloaded on traffic, but you never can be sure with todays mobile rip off merchants !!
Thanks for the reply

To my knowledge, no UK mobile network charges for the time spent connected to GPRS - they all charge simply for the sum of bytes sent and received.
If you want a really good way to monitor your GPRS usage, try Spb's excellent GPRS Monitor.
