(Please pass this offer to the relevant decision maker within your organisation.)
Did you know that you can promote your company or organisation, large or small, on 10's of 1000's of SatNav screens for free with PocketGPSWorld.com's Points of Interest downloads? You can join major brand names such as Marks & Spencer, BUPA, McDonald's, RBS and Sheraton who are already benefiting frommassive exposure on PocketGPSWorld.com's location database.
All we need is an accurate list of latitude and longitude co-ordinates for your locations. You may also have very large premises or an event with multiple access points, car parks and facilities, for instance a sports stadium, music festival, ferry terminal, race or rally. If so we'd like to offer them for free to our 250,000 strong SatNav community! Our visitors are keen that the information they download is of the highest quality so have a vested interest in not only helping us keep your list up to date, but also making us aware of changed co-ordinates and information.
Just email us at pois AT pocketgpsworld.com (replace AT with @) with the name of your organisation, what it does and a list of addresses, phone numbers and co-ordinates of all of your locations and we'll do the rest. You can find your co-ordinates on our POI map.
A comma separated text file (*.txt or *.csv) in the following format is preferred:
Latitude,Longitude: In decimal degrees with longitudes west of Greenwich negative.
Title: Enter the Town/City/District in which the POI is located or near followed by a name/additional text. Separate the two items with a comma and enclose in double quotes. For example, a pub and historic house.
"Farnham, Star & Garter"
"Basingstoke, The Vyne"
Another example, a Sainsbury's store on a retail park
"Farnham, Water Lane"
PhoneNumber: International format eg +441234123456
without spaces and other non-numeric characters.
Comments: Opening hours etc. If the comment contains commas then the text must be enclosed in double quotes.
Visit Submission Guidelines and our Points of Interest page to see the 100s of companies already listed and to read terms. _________________ Robert Brady

Any chance of indicating which POI lists have been provided directly from the companies concerned when they are published. No offence to anyone who compiles lists of locations, but hopefully a company's own lists should be more reliable as to current places of business.

Not a bad idea metroace, we could maybe add the words 'Official Company List' to the title of the download. _________________ Robert Brady

In my experience, some companies seem to generate theirs from postcode and then I prefer the unofficial versions with local knowledge actually putting the POI at the car park entrance instead of a field etc.
Comparing, for example the BP or the Premier Inn, files from here with those on their company web site throws up a significant mis-match of entries, never mind precise lat/long locations.
Whilst I wish I could believe the company drone doing just one more task in a boring office, Ii'd probably trust the enthusiasts on here just a little more?

Hi David and welcome to the forums!
Yes, you're absolutley right. What we're hoping is that we get the files from the companies and the community improves them over time. In my view it's better to have a reasonable quality file to start with, than no file at all. That way at least we have something to work with. _________________ Robert Brady

If you are looking for National Tyres in Telford and use the postcode from their website (TF1 5AG)you will end up over a Kilometre away to the East at a company called K+N Engineering. When I contacted Royal mail about this the response was that they give the company the post code and the company can use it on any site they wish.
The post code is for royal mail and anyone using it does so at their discretion as they are not charged for them.
So,dont trust that a post code will get you to exactly where you want to go.
