|
|
Hi
My 6 month old TT920T has developed a nice yellow vertical line, about one third away from the LHS of the screen.
Has anybody else seen anything like this? The device hasn't beed dropped or otherwise abused. I've tried the usual resets, but nothing seems to fix it.
If it needs to go back for repair, any advice as it was bought from Amazon.co.uk.
Thanks - Kev

Assuming you are UK based give TT support a ring in the morning and send it back for a warranty repair, it shouldn't have the yellow line as per the picture - the number is 0845 161 0009 - Mike
Edit once to correct the typo, which is now in BOLD - Mike |

Thanks for the advice.
Thanks also to oldboy for fixing my link.
I'll post back what TT says in the morning.

10 mins on the phone at 9am this morning has got an RMA raised.
For those who don't know, they send a return postage paid (special delivery) bag out in the post for the unit to be returned. Their turnaround is around 5 days at the moment.
I'll post again once I have my unit back....

I missed your post earlier, but the picture you show is a definite LCD fault.
If you're interested in proving this, take a screenshot then copy it to you PC and view it via your computer display - as if by magic, the line will disappear.
These faults are usually consistent (rather than intermittent), so you should have no trouble demonstrating a faulty device to TomTom - however, it I were you, I'd also include copies of any photos you've taken (like the one above) in the package you're returning to TT, just for extra evidence which can only work in your favour. _________________ Andy

Yes - it was intermittent for a little while, but I've left it a few weeks now to make sure it was there all the time. I would have sent the unit back earlier but I was driving to/from a Center Parcs in Holland last week and I didn't want to be without it. Fortunately the line on the screen doesn't really cause any problems, but it's a fault and it's under guarantee......
Photos will be accompanying the unit back to TT - I don't want any excuses.

Update:
Rang on Tue 3 June to report the fault.
Post paid return package delivered at home on Thu 5 June
Sent back to TT on Fri 6 June
Email sent from TT on Mon 9 June to say the unit had been delivered
Email sent from TT on Thu 12 June to say the unit had been repaired and dispatched
Unit arrived Fri 13 June
The LCD has been changed but nothing else (not that I was expecting anything else to be swapped). They didn't change the code.
So, all in all excellent service. The only thing I found confusing was the alternate delivery address you need to supply - apparently it's used as a backup incase post office fails to deliver the return package _________________ Kev
