The File CurrentMap.dat should be in the Root of the Device.
Is that all that can be seen on the SD Card? If it starts up and says 'Maps not Found', there must be more Files than that.
Have you tried a Reset? Can you identify the Map Folder?
You don't say which TT ONE it is, or which Map he was using.
If you could tell us a bit more then we can start from there.
Although your Map will work on his Device, if the Activation is transferred to his, it will ruin your chances of Updating. _________________ Richard

I think it's a v2 and im not sure about the map as it wont start i can see the map folder if i put the sd card in my card reader,
I tried putting all my tom tom files on a new sd card and when i put it in it seemed to be working but then after it went through the start settings it said no maps found again! |

Which Files can you see in the Map Folder? That's the crucial thing.
All the other Software Files are free, so are easily obtainable.
In the Map Folder there should be a .pna File. If it's there you can open it with Notepad and it will give you the Map details.
Using the Card Reader is quicker than turning the Device on and off.
Just remember to Right Click the Drive and Select Reject, or use Safely Remove Hardware, in the Sys Tray. _________________ Richard

That File shouldn't be in the Map Folder.
Right, next thing to check.
What was the Update, that didn't complete? Map or Software?
Was it the original Map on the Card, or has the Map been Upgraded at some stage?
If it wasn't the original Map, there should be an Installation File of the newer Map somewhere on the PC. _________________ Richard

After asking the friend he dosent really know as he isnt that computer literate but i think it was just a software update from what he has said and the computer crashed part way through the update and when he tried to start it didnt find any maps.
when it is started it goes to settings every time and the map folder is empty eccept for the one file i mentioned earlyer. |

I think his only lifeline then, is to phone TT support and hope that they will be able to do something.
The point to make is that it corrupted the SD Card during an Update to the Software. I hope it's the original TT SD Card as they will want that back before they do anything.
0845 1610009 is the number for the UK.
Just goes to show the benefit of having a Full Explorer Backup. _________________ Richard
