First thing to note is this. My cousin has the exact same phone, and has got the exact same unit to work in his phone. in fact we just proved this earlier today.
Things tried:
When i first got this unit from him, i installed the software, and gave it a go at default settings. nothing.
This is where i contacted him to help me set it up / troubleshoot the issue. At this point we confirmed that i had the correct driver installed, and re-installed the gpsinfo software for good measure. At this point we proceeded to try and get a link between the GPSinfo software and the GPS unit itself. this is a readout of the current ports, and the only ports shown in the software:
0: ActiveDevice
1: Serial
2: SerialIR
3: IrCOMM
4: (blnk)
5: SerialBT
6: QCTCompositeDevice
7: (blank)
8: (blank)
9: VirtCOM
I foget the actual name to it, but on his phone when the gps is plugged in, and he is running GPSinfo, port four reads as GPS.....

We have tried re-installing, re-installing and running re-starts on the phone, changing port numbers, both hardware and software. Nothing.

Any ideas?

Have you checked the firwmare version on both phones, if there is a difference I would try and get yours loaded to match the other device then try again - Mike

I didn't confirm this with him, but i just updated to the latest firmware for my phone (1.15) Still no go. i re-installed the driver and software, with a soft restart after each installation. still nothing.
