Having downloaded the update I was able to get Home to upload it to my Go500.
Using the same 1Gb Kingston card i was using with 5.44 it refused to work but when exactly the same files were copied to a Viking 1Gb card it would work. Both cards are actually Toshiba cards from the printing on the back.
Clearly the problem of non functioning upgrades relates to the SD card. Quite why I don't know, but if you can't get it to work try a different card! |

Used the download link to version 6.xxx someone PM'd me and it works a treat on a TomTom 500. Buddies is working and communicates with a TT510 perfectly. 8)
Many thanks. _________________ TomTom 720

found a 6.12 update and i got it going so far with no errors the installation with home is a little bit tricky so make sure backup the older version just incase you erase the older application by accident. |

[quote="BanziBarn"]Please can someone just confirm that this update will work with my Go classic? The TomTom site seems to say it will, has anyone successfully managed to update their classic?

Yup. After much farting about, I finally got the 6.12 update working on my Classic. I also have the speed camera voices working correctly too.
After reading millions of posts re this subject, the way I did it was to *only* put the Great Britain maps and zip folder onto a fresh SD card, then use Home to install the (already downloaded) 6.12 update.
Afterwards you can then copy the voices folder and the new DATA.CHK onto the SD Card.
Works a treat.

OK, interesting. Think I'll probably wait until the update is available officially though having read your post. As long as I get it eventually I'll be happy |

After much searching I finally found a copy of 6.12. I downloaded it, unzipped it and pasted the files on my TT300 . . . . . and it works a treat
I backed it up before I did it - and I wil most likely go back to 5.44 when the 'official' update is released.
In the meantime I'm quite happy with the changes - even if some of them are cosmetic. |

Looks good!
RE: speed cameras. Are the speed camera files no longer normal POI files? If they are the same as before, how does the unit know which POIs are speed camera ones to allow you to edit them via the speed camera screen? |

You can still use the speed camera warning system in the same way as previous versions, the Icon you have spotted on the screen is part of the TomTom camera database, having tried it I know which I prefer based purely on accuracy PGPSW is in a different class when I compared the two offerings, TomTom POI's for cameras was the first thing I removed to free up space and de-clutter the machine - Mike |
