Hi - I've had an i3 for about a month now, not really used it much until this week. I've travelled up and down the M5 and M6 over the last couple of days, and on occasions the i3 seemed to think it was travelling parallel with the motorway, i.e the triangle was left of the M5. This causes the unit to confuse and keep re-calculating whenever you pass a local road.

Does this sound like it needs calibrating, or is there a problem with the GPS signal, or is it faulty?

Thanks in advance.

might be low signal strength do your car have a heat reflective windscreen or the unit might need a factory reset

No the car hasn't got a heated or reflective windscreen, but the unit is mounted to a vent mount and not the windscreen, would that make much difference? It' has full view through the window...

Better to put it on the windscreen, although mine carried on working fine from the glove compartment of my car when i popped it in there whilst re-fuelling. Didn't bother to switch it off and then pulled away with this muffled voice coming from the car! It was only when it bonged for a Camera that i realised what I'd done!

What car do you have?

Make sure that:

1) You're running unit Firmware v2.7
2) You've selected WAAS/EGNOS mode for the GPS

I don't think WAAS/EGNOS is fully operational yet!

I used it for a while - but then had some funky results with some results, which didn't occur when I set the GPS mode to normal.

I've decided to leave it (EGNOS) off, now, until EGNOS properly goes live.

I have mine set up to use the EGNOS signal, it seems to work fine. According to this page (http://www.tracklogs.co.uk/cgi-bin/publ/user.cgi?obj=home&page=gpsfaq&id=2040) it went live almost 2 years ago.

It's NOT live - note the comment "due".

Now me saying it's NOT live, doesn't mean it won't work, or operate in certain locations - merely that's it's not fully implemented, and you may get inconsistent results.
