Hi all,

I currently have a street pilot 3 GPS, and it is a great unit, but i was wondering if i should ditch it and buy one of these nice new street pilot i3's????

what do you think? so far i have been put off by the incredibly small screen compared to my SPIII. But i culd easily sell my SPIII to fund the i3, so i'm stuck between a rock and a hard place at the moment.

cheers

P.S If i bug Garmin to give me version 7 of city nav will it be an updated map? (new roads and roundabouts etc..) and does anybody know what year it would be from.

Welcome

v7 is from Nov 2004 I think. v8 is due out "Real Soon Now", Garmin have been promising it for a couple of months. They are now saying end of Feb.

As for the i3, it's a nice little unit and it gets loads of positive feedback (mostly from first time sat nav users though).

On the down side, it seems to be VERY cut down feature wise compared to the SPIII. There is no satellite information screen for example and I don't think there is a trip computer either (correct me if I am wrong!). Europe maps are an expensive extra too.

Probably the best thing to do is get a demo of an i3 and see what you think. Maybe the smaller size/better portability would make it a more attractive unit.

If you want something less chunky than the i3 then have a look at the Quest too.

You can download the full i3 manual HERE

For some reason it's called the 917_OwnersManual.

Have a read and see what you think.

cheers for the response, great help.

I have just been to Asda and seen that they are doing Navman iCN 320's for not much more then the i3, it looks a lot bigger (screen wise) and a bit more manly the the i3, any of you had a play with that one??

cheers
