What happened to this produc?

The map downloads will no longer be available after 2006.

I am the one responsible for canceling the contract for Outdoor Navigator with Maptech. Over the years, I was growing increasingly unhappy with Maptech's performance in many areas. In the end, I decided that it would be better for Active Corporation and the existing users if I took the product back and created the product that I thought was needed.

Maptech is required by the contract to provide maps for Outdoor Navigator for 1 year (probably starting from last November). They can provide them for longer if they want to. I would suggest that you get all of the maps you want now though before they are gone.

The next generation will be activemap. www.activemap.com will be the site and we'll put up information as it is available. There is a large development effort going on to bring some new capabilities to your PDA or smartphone. Write to info@activemap.com if you'd like to be on a beta test list. It will be a while before there will be test versions.

We'll definitely have a program to convert Outdoor Navigator users to activemap. Don't stop using it because you'll need to have it in order to convert over to our next generation.

I'm sorry for any problems that this has caused. The decision wasn't done lightly but will ultimately be much better for all users.
