Waypoints recovery from SPIII

My wife's SPIII died a week ago -- turns off in 5 sec. We bought Nuvi 350, and would like to transfer waypoints to the Nuvi. However, it requires to use the SPIII unit, not the card reader, and the GPS has to be turned on. I'm wondering if there is a way to use some PC software to recover waypoints from the card reader, or if there is a service that would transfer the waypoints to a CD etc. in a format that can be imported to Nuvi.
Please point me to the right URLs or threads if this topic has been already discussed.

Update: called Garmin tech support, and they offered to fix SPIII for a flat fee I could not resist having a working GPS for.
