Hi, I got a SP C310 unit with italian cartography (CitySelect NT 7 maps, waiting for CityNavigator 8 to get available for sale); no problems at all with that. Though, when I travel using the basemap, the unit behaves really badly; it constantly shows the vehicle as if driving outside of the road (usually something like 10 meters, but sometimes as far as 200 or so! Enabling or disabling EGNOS doesn't make any difference) and therefore it won't correctly route as soon as the border is being crossed. This problem constantly shows up (at least in the countries I tried, Switzerland, Slovenia and Croatia that is) and therefore the unit is totally userless when using basemaps. Firmware version is v. 4.80. Is that my own unit's problem (guess not) or a really bad bug? Any ideas?

Bye.

It may do this when it is outside of the area covered by the detailed maps. UK , Ireland and Northern France. The unit is no where near as accurate as it apears to be.

On an I3 I found that I could make it behave in this fashion by removing the SD card, switch on, it will say there is no SD card, touch screen, press button what ever and it will pass this and work in the UK as it would in Europe, always seem to be driving in the hedge.

The basemaps are pretty hopeless in my experience. They are OK for use as a rough guide but the level of detail is so low that they can be hundreds of meters off in places.

As gcb says, try removing the SD card from your i3 if you want to see how bad the basemap is.
