Garmin i3 - US Maps

If I want to take my i3 with me when I holiday in Florida, would it be possible to obtain US maps for use with my i3

I have read that you can copy the US maps to a spare Transflash card and fit it to the i3 and it will work OK?

If this is true, what stops more than 1 person using the US Maps like this? Would it be possible to lend the transflash card to other i3 owners for use in Florida?
