hi all, i know some people have enquired as to whether you can use the i3 for trekking etc. in short yes you can, but the i3 will take you 'as the crow flies' - it wont warn you of hills etc.......
you can create your own poi by visiting....... http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/getamap/ which will let you lock onto anywhere in the UK, in the lower left it will give you a grid ref e.g. NZ515165 write this down then goto... streetmap.co.uk in here enter your grid ref and you an then translate it into lat/long, again write these down e.g. -1.204721 and 54.541597 then create a new CSV file in excell, (you can always copy and paste an exisitng one into excell then delete the info so it sets up in the correct format) enter your lat/long co-ords in colums 1 and 2 (make sure you record in the right column if you get them backside first it wont wok!) in column 3 enter a name, and column 4 any other details you want then simply save your new file (give it a file name e.g. my own poi's) always accepting..blah blah!
then upload as normal, hey presto your new files will be on i3, this is a brill way to add new pois too, you could always mail any updates to the forum - i tried it taking me across a local green belt and it works great!
any probs just pm me!

hope this helps anyone

By this do you mean it will tell you how to get to points by not using roads?

This "as the crow flies" thing - how does that work in practice with the i3? How does it tell you to navigate to the point?

'as the crow flies' - a direct line, ive not tried this in practice but as a simulated journey ir says ' go off road' - 'keep left' 'keep right' - it will also show you you start and end points when viewing map (depending on the zoom) so whilst you are off road physically walking you can follow the direction of the arrow picked up by sats to confirm you are going in the right direction, for example, i want to climb ben nevis, i goto o/s site and get the co ords for it, park my car at the bottom and start walking up the mountain, the gps wiil show me my destination at the top and i follow my route via the blue arrow if i dont wanna follow the is instructions
