|
|
Hi,
I have just bought the Garmin I3 for christmas from ebay
When I switch the unit on i get a picture of the I3 hooked up to a PC stating Quote: | Please use the Provided PC software to load maps containing turn-by-turn route information |
There was a slip of paper in the box from the seller saying to push and hold the scroll button to get past this.
1st Question: Does this happen on all units?
Ok, so onto the next screen which is the 'don't use whilst driving' this passes and i am presented with the main blue screen.
At this point i'm going on a journey so I select:
Where To?
Address
England - There's a whole list of countries here
Select City
2nd Question: Does this unit not have postcode ability?
Enter House Number
Select Street
Start Navigating
Ok, so now the unit is picking up on the satellites and then tells me it's ready to navigate.
Bear in mind, I live on a small road with a junction at either end no more than 200yds
1st Instruction from unit 'Continue for 13 miles'
So I drive on thinking that it may be something to do with locking onto sat's so I give it the benefit of the doubt and continue to drive.
Here is the 3rd and most important question to this topic
The unit continually re-calculates the route and never get's it correct.
The main arrow is correct and the maps are fine as it shows the correct road I am on and turning onto.
The chequered flag is set to the desired destination.
The red route line seems to be the problem it's nowhere near the start point and on closer inspection of the map just goes straight through roads as if it was guiding me 'as the crow fly's'
Is it possible that the unit has pre-programmed start points set up on it? Or something that needs deleting?
Is there a way to reset the unit and start from scratch???
Please help

Get back on to the E- Bay seller, he has sold you an i3 with a copied card & it will never work correctly. _________________ TomTom Go 910 (3) v.6.522 Map Western Europe v.650 with useless TMC receiver

Nope. You have been sold a unit with dodgy maps installed on it. It only has a map of the roads but lacks the routing information. It should have never been sold like this - send it straight back. _________________ Gone fishing! |
