|
|
I just got an email from Garmin asjking me to upgrade from version.2.40, to 2.50. Should I do this. EWverything has been great thus far, and I dont want to scrtew anything up. Has anyone done it? Does it help a great deal?
This is what it says......
Changes made from version 2.40 to 2.50:
* Improved retrieval of current state/country in the address/intersection find.
* Added full extended postal code support.
* Added ability to search across multiple mapsets for address/intersections.
* Improved display of street names for the address/intersection search.
* Removed undesired exiting of data entry mode when entering streets in the address/intersection find.
* When reviewing a city, the state will now be displayed.
* When downloading maps to MapSource, the user-loaded maps now will be download--not the preloaded maps.
* Corrected issue with unit shutting down when accessing the custom poi category list.
* Improved route calculation speed.
Thanks for any help!! |

I usually keep my GPS units up to date with the latest firmware, but
if you aren't having problems with your unit and you aren't bothered about the extra features/bug fixes mentioned then don't feel compelled to upgrade it! _________________ Gone fishing! |

Anyone else experiencing quite slow map screen drawing? On my Quest1 the screen would update very fast, on the Quest2 sometimes it is awfully slow (in the 5 to 10 second range!)... _________________ Robert Elsinga =8- )

What flaws? Have you already reported them in detail to garmin?
And you can always find previous versions at my Quest site. ;) _________________ Robert Elsinga =8- )

Elsinga, great I will get it from your site and put the old back on. The flaws are an occasional half screen, where as the the map literally only takes up half the screen. Continued recalculating, where as, even at a stop after going off course it cycles through 6-7 even 8times I noticed on an occasion, of recalculating a route. After a turn I notice it takes longer to recognize I have gone through the turn. I have reported the findings to Garmin. I will admit it seems overall faster at start up for finding sats, and for the most part is faster in calculating, I never had these flaws w/ the old system. |

I had the recalc looping once (it kept asking me to recalc, since I set it to prompt me). And yes, the half map screen sound familiar too...
I guess it's all about optimized code and speed... _________________ Robert Elsinga =8- )

I have just upgraded my Quest 2 from 2.40 to 2.50 and have also had the odd re-calculation hang up and map drawing problems. In addition my safety camera POI warnings no longer work correctly. Hopefully the next upgrade will resolve these issues? |

I had a mail from Garmin that the next update wouldn't be far away. ;) _________________ Robert Elsinga =8- )
