Hi all

I have U-Turn turned off on my I3, obviously if you know a less congested route etc you dont want gabby telling you turn round all the time

BUT.....going to Penrith the other day I followed road markings as unit said turn in 2 miles, what the unit did not know is the "actual" road bended sharply right but you could "turn off" and effectively go in a straight line.

SO....It recalculated and I thought go with it as it only made two minutes difference to eta. That two minutes turned to fifteen due to me driving half way up a mountain (I kid you not) on a single track lane with more bends than a deep sea diver surfacing with a hydrogen backpack! I had to cross two bridges with clearance of no more than half an inch either side (designed for horses)?

ANYWAY...It got me where I wanted so I was happy

BUT....When I came home I realised that where I exited after the treacherous detour was about two hundred yards from where it first recalculated!!!

SO....Use detour if you dont know where you are????????

OR....Accept it and see places you would not normally????

Yeah, I have avoid U-Turns set on mine too.

I have found that you are usually better off doing a u-turn if it is safe and comfortable and get back on your original route (where it will recalcuate your original route again). If it isn't possible to turn around then keep going on the new route.

With U-Turns disabled, it doesn't order you to do a U-Turn but you are free to do one if you choose.

And yes, it can take you on some "interesting" roads. I have been down a few farm tracks and had to ford a river at one stage. It did get me there in the end though. Laughing
