|
|
I've only had my i3 for a few days, and am very happy so far. But I just wondered if anyone else has noticed this problem too....
Say I set off at 1pm on a journey which the i3 thinks will take 1/2 an hour. It displays an "Arrival" time of 1.30pm in the bottom left - fine.
Then I get stuck in a traffic jam at 1.15pm. I crawl along, and all the time my "Arrival" time creeps up. Let's say the "Arrival" time gets to 2.00pm.
Suddenly, the traffic clears, and I'm back up to speed again. However, my arrival time stays at 2.00pm. I reach my destination at 1.45pm, with "Arrival" time still showing 2.00pm.... surely not right, I would expect it to recalculate once I get moving again.
It seems that "Arrival" time will creep up, but never come back down ... or is it just me? |

Seems to recalculate with me - did it today, slowly crept down - probably because I was going a little quicker on the motorway than it assumed I would have been doing. _________________ Pauljmuk ::::

Had mine for a couple of weeks and seems to adjust itself accordingly and has never been more than a few mins out. |

I think it depends how long you are in the jam and what speed you are doing. If you do 30 MPH on the motorway for 20 minutes then it will degrade the motorway speed used in the calculation to try and get an accurate ETA.
After a while it will go back to the correct speed but it's an extremely difficult call for the GPS to make. The ETA is a bit hit and miss. The "E" does stand for Estimated!
The problem I get is when I use my GPS on the motorbike, then put it in the car, the ETA ends up being quite optomistic because the car doesn't make such good progress through the traffic. _________________ Gone fishing! |

I had the times go up and down on me when I was on holiday last week, though this was on a journey of a few hours - maybe on a short journey it doesn't have time to recalculate properly? It seemed to overcompensate when I was stuck in traffic, so that once the traffic cleared the ETA would drop back a few minutes. |
