Acording to these guys it is possible via a download. I even rang them to confirm.

I think your confusing 2 different things with the quest and 26** it is possible to add an overlay map of all the speed cameras but there is no poi warning system. What we are trying to get retro added is a POI loader which will allow for you to add poi's as and when with verbal warnings.

Much more useful to be told a gatso at 50 is in your way rather than noticing a mark on the map as your driving.

This was Garmins reply for the ique 3600

Thank you for contacting Garmin Europe.

In regard to your email, the older units are not designed and cannot hold
the POI loader thus why it has been released for the newer units which all
use a new type of mapping (3D). I would be very surprised if the POI loader
was re-released for the older units as the cannot hold it.

If you have any further questions please let me know.

A bit of a bummer that Quest 2 can do alerts but Quest can't, given that they are still selling Quest (1) units in the UK, so in effect it's their current model. I've got a Road Angel in the car, so running that with the Quest works ok (except it clutters the dashboard), but I really bought the Quest to use on the Ducati so could do with it having an alert system.

I got the camera overlay working in the Quest, but as someone else mentioned, without the audible alerts as well it's not much use. The other slight problem is that the camera icons are quite large, so around a big city like Birmingham the Quest display becomes a mass of camera 'blobs' and you can't see the map.

Yep. Crying or Very sad

Did you write to Garmin and tell them? The more we (politely) badger them, the more chance there is that we will get the feature retrofitted. Wink

I've just bought a Quest in the UK (with 243Mb) and while completely new to GPS was advised that it suits my purposes. After 3 weeks use it has proved to be ideal - although still awaiting the upgared to V7 of City Select.
I am confused however. The product comes with a FREE Speed Camera Database, which I've yet to download. A quick glance thru' the forum suggests that these speed alert utilities require functional POI mapping within the unit, and the Quest does not have this facility - only the Quest 2.
Can someone enlighten me. The unit was purchased from globalpositioningsystems.co.uk. Was theur advert misleading?

Welcome

You can get a speed camera overlay map for the Quest (thanks to WiRED) but it will not alert you when you approach a camera.

It depends what the advert said. If they said "speed camera alerts" then yes it was. If they said "speed camera overlay map" then no it wasn't. Confused

I suggest that you phone the retailer and explain your situation. They may be kind enough to exchange the unit if it is in as new condition.
