I am looking to purchase an aerial for the i3.

Please can someone tell me once I have purchased it - how easy is it to fit.. presumably one end fixes into the socket on the left of the i3 and the other end goes somewhere to receive the signal...
does it have to go outside on the roof? this just alerts theive sto the fact you have a portable gps???
Can it go internally and still work??
Somewher on these forums I think I read that it could go under the bonnet of the car...???
dont you end up with loads of trailing wires?

Joolz don't worry,
you can fit it internally if you want, possibly on rear parcel shelf, it's only very small black box. I found it easier to put it outside & brought the cable under the front well and hid the cable around top of fascia and windscreen.Depending where you fix your i3, i used the glass suction part.
You only see the last 5 or 6 inches of cable and then the tiny plug pushes into the small socket on the left side.
Very neat & i just unplug when i leave car.

I fitted my new antenna last nght (£12 from ebay) and the differece in accuracy, timing of annuncements etc is simply amazing. I'm currently running the wire out of the sunroof on my Zafira but eventually I will have to find a proper channel to the rear door or through the front.
Can anyone supply some tips for running wires safely and inconspicuously?

apart from lowering the rear window a tiny amount and feeding it through everytime i want to use it (or slamming it in the rear door) has anyone got any ideas about how to locate it from inside the car onto the roof Rolling Eyes

does it need to be on the outside roof for the best reception or can i lay it on the dashboard or parcel shelf go get gains (e.g. drawing maps faster and more accuracy)
