|
|
In this month's "Retro Cars" magazine there's a little snippet about the Fuzion FZ1 camera detector, "...which uses GPS to warn you with voice alerts and a digital display. The system will tell you what type of camera is ahead, what speed it's set to..."
It looks like a sort of mini Road Angel
It seems to be distributed by MA Distributors on 0845 2300 480
The price of these sort of things is definitely coming down, but there's no information about subscription costs, frequency of updates, database coverage, etc. I wonder where all these companies get their speed camera databases from anyway? |

Saw a different one in the back of this month's Evo magazine: £79.99 with a year's free updates. Seemed a pretty basic three-LED and audible warning device though. |

That'll be the InfoRad. A good little unit. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Just purchased a Micro Fuzion for the missus. Doesn't say what model, but it was £99.99. It's fairly basic, but works (voice alerts followed by LED info). Very small and light, slips easily into the pocket, and easy to set up (comes with magnet attachment for the dash, then plug in and play). No subscription charge for the database updates, so hard to know how that's going to pan out, but the wife says it picked up all the cameras on the way in to Manchester this morning. :D |

I'm using one at the moment, as we have just started stocking them.
Lovely system (particularly the FZ3 black model) with full free lifetime updates, spoken warnings, ability to add personal alerts and can be used as a USB GPS receiver for your laptop. As far as I can see it does all that the Road Angel 2 does, and at a 1/3 of the price.
My fave feature is that it also tells you the maximum speed (on LCD and by voice) when alerting - this is something that SatNav POIs still don't do.
You can also purchase a Laser/Radar detector attachment to connect to the GPS unit.
Well recommended... _________________ _______________________
